Hyperhidrosis

AKA: Excessive Sweating

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that is not related to heat or exercise. It most commonly affects the palms, feet, armpits, and face but can occur in other areas as well. This excessive sweating can severely disrupt daily activities, cause social anxiety, and lead to skin irritation or infections due to moisture buildup. The treatment involves injecting medication that blocks the nerves responsible for activating sweat glands, significantly reducing the amount of sweat produced.

How is Hyperhidrosis performed?

After a thorough consultation to see if treatment is right for you, you will be given some preparation instructions before your appointment.

  • No deodorants or topicals to the area for 24hours prior.
  • Area must be clean and shaved if necessary.
  • Must have no known allergies to iodine or betadine.

On day of treatment:

The area is cleaned and dried as best as possible. Iodine or Betadine solution is then painted on the area and allowed to dry. Baby powder is then dusted over the area.
The problem areas will become visible and this is where the injections will be placed.
